The Gear

Last weekend DH and I went to brunch and then while walking around we passed by a baby store and decided to go in. DH teased me because all of the other women in there were heavily pregnant and I don't have a real baby bump yet. I have a teeny bump which is all bloat hehe. But I am nothing if not organized and I wanted to start checking out the gear.

I've spent this past year checking out the strollers I see most often on the street. We live in NYC so strollers here have to be pretty heavy duty since they get used so much. We have a car but rarely use it so our stroller doesn't need to be the type that folds up easily. These three were at the top of my list because I see them the most:

  Stokke Explory

Bugaboo Cameleon

Uppababy Vista

While all three have their plusses and minuses, DH and I both preferred the Stokke Explory. I was shocked that we actually agreed on something haha. Funny thing is, DH really got into it and was testing out all of the different attachments. I should have known he would be into gear :). The bugaboo just seemed too low to the ground and we didn't like the seat or bassinet on the Uppababy Vista. The Stokke seat and bassinet are so much more plush. The only negative about the Stokke is that there is no basket underneath. They have a new model called the Stokke Crusi with a really large basket that can also fit a second seat and turn into a double stroller. But it was just way too big and we're only at baby number one right now so we don't need the extra room. The bag that sits under the Stokke Explory is very roomy though and we'll be able to fit a lot in there.

So Stokke it is!! We both liked the grey melange fabric so that's what we're going with. Bonus is that the store has a 20% off coupon. We were going to wait until I'm a little further along but the store might be excluding Stokke from the coupon soon so we decided to go ahead and order it :).

The other large item we checked out was a crib. I have two favorites that I've had my eye on forever thanks to Pinterest and all the cute nursery ideas that are always on there.

Oeuf Classic Crib

Oeuf Sparrow Crib

For some reason I like the Sparrow crib better in photos but in person I preferred the Classic crib. I also love how the Classic converts to the cutest little toddler bed:

This is what the Sparrow Crib looks like as a toddler bed:

We also fell in love with the Mini Library shelving unit so we'll be adding that to our nursery as well but will order the darker walnut color:

We're going to wait to order the nursery furniture so I have time to decided between the Classic and Sparrow cribs. I came across another crib on pinterest that I really like. It's by Babyletto and the price point is so much better than the Oeuf cribs. I just need to see it in person.
